To begin with other than business cards and a CV I wasn't sure what to include in my promotions pack. I felt like letter heads and stationary weren't necessarily beneficial for promoting myself yet I didn't want it to be empty. After doing a bit of planning and research I decided that what I needed to include was an additional cover letter and some means of wrapping the pack.
What I wanted to add into it was a small comic and some stickers, something to make the pack more fun and less business like. Extra interesting additions to any pack can be kept hold of and used/placed in a studio, whenever clients and potential work placement colleagues interact with these object they're reminded of me, it makes me stand out that little bit more.
The reason I chose a comic and stickers is because they're fun, slightly childish and relate to my brand strongly. Comic books are where my style originates from and whenever I introduce myself to a client or have to write a description of myself I describe myself as a graphic designer, illustrator and superhero in training. It ties in nicely with my daydreamy personality, where I come from and the kind of person I am. Stickers are collectable, they are decorative and something that could be placed comfortably in a creative setting. Both products as well are things that must be physically interacted with creating a stronger bond between the recipient and my branding.
The stickers will simple be single versions of the stand alone bear, pig and hamster illustrations, included in whichever pack their colour belongs to. (In the hamster pack will be hamster stickers, the bear pack bear stickers etc)
For the comic I chose to represent a day in the life of a graphic designer. A small joke comic based on the intensity, repetitiveness and fullness of a designers schedule. I feel that any potential studio would relate to the humour and would certainly get a giggle from it.
The comic was fairly simple and enjoyable to make, illustration, pagination and binding are all things I like doing. I deliberately made it slightly different to the rest of the pack, I wanted it to be an extra element of it's own, like a small prize gained from going through the cover letter, CV and cards. Though I still used the same slightly off colouring illustration style, type faces and hand rendered type used on my CV as well as the logo to still link it to the Rosalyn Halford brand.
