Back in 2014 I entered the Secret 7" competition as part of a brief where a choice of songs are offered and designers are given the opportunity to produce their own cover/sleeve. The song I chose to create an album cover for was Grounds for Divorce by Elbow. Although it seemed obvious I went with the hole visual based on the lyric 'there's a hole in my neighbourhood down which of late I cannot help but fall' and produced an illustration representing it.
I visualised a few other lyric elements, there's moments in the song that talk about smoking cigarettes and drinking and a couple in turmoil. The thing I'm most pleased with is the perspective, I can't always get certain angles correct and yet I managed to make it seem as though you were looking up from the bottom of a hole so, good one me.
