Business Name: As yet Untitled.
For the second brief we have to set up a business with others from the class. I and Taylor Pycroft both knew we were people who would never be happy in a Graphic Design studio situation and are both people who prefer to make things rather than design layouts and logos.
So we talked and decided instead of setting up a studio like most others we would instead try to gather together enough people to create a unique home furnishings company.
With Jess Wood, Eva Clapham and Margaux Da Nascimento (women known for their doodling abilities) we got together and formed a collective. Like with Kath Kidson, only much less pretentious and there being five of us, we would be producing patterns and designs to be printed onto various items. The initial collections will be printed onto cushions, notebooks and tote bags and if we were to start the business professionally we would hope to expand the range of products following good sales.
We hope to do series of collections every new season making sure we differ from the existing markets such as Ikea who produce cheap ideas but rarely refresh them, we want to be unique and always updating our image.
Hopefully the target market for our products will be the up and coming new home owners and renters, people looking for a slice of design and originality to add into their homes. However that market doesn't need to remain neiche, we could expand into providing soft furnishings for businesses corporations or even design studios and reception areas.
I am presentations director and co finance officer.
We've yet to solidify a unique selling point or a name.
Our target market will be students, designers, artistic people, young couples, beginner home owners, young professionals, people interested in designing their own home.
